Full-Width and Half-Width Characters: Why Similar Symbols Differ

Check the input method status and final output by comparing Chinese and English punctuation and character width.

Similar appearance does not mean the same character

The English comma is different from the Chinese comma, and the ordinary letter A is also different from the full-width letter A. In the task of inputting the original text, you need to submit the characters required by the question instead of choosing a visually close substitute.

Check the two settings separately

Character width and punctuation mode are related but different concepts. You cannot just look at "switched to Chinese" and think that they all match. The official description of Microsoft Pinyin lists the corresponding modes and shortcut keys; other input methods should check their own settings and do not directly copy the same combination.

Use short sentences for comparison

First enter ABC, 123, then enter a short sentence with Chinese commas and periods, and observe the output. When encountering an error, change only one mode and then verify the same characters. Do not change the input method, layout, and browser at the same time, otherwise it will be difficult to determine which step solves the problem.

Today’s practice and inspection

Prepare three sets of punctuation comparisons, enter them one by one and check them with the target. Finally, put them into short sentences mixed with Chinese and English, and observe the first symbol after the language switch. If only the boundaries are easy to make mistakes, switch to the connection next time instead of practicing all the Chinese characters or letters again.
