How to Improve Typing Accuracy: Reduce Repeated Mistakes

divides typos into key position, sequence, omission and word selection errors, and uses small-scale error correction instead of blind speed reduction.

If the accuracy is low, it needs to be classified first.

"Carelessness" cannot directly tell you what to practice next. Pressing adjacent keys incorrectly is a problem of positioning. The reverse order of two letters may be related to cohesion. Missing a word may be due to loss of reading position. If Chinese homophones are incorrect, you need to check the word selection. Find the category first, and then decide what to practice.

At the end of the exercise, don’t just look at how many red characters there are. Picking out two or three recurring mistakes is easier to deal with than writing down all the mistakes in the entire article. Occasional errors also require attention, but there is no need to immediately add a dedicated task for each mistake.

Slow down the speed enough to observe the movement

Take the initiative to slow down a little and allow yourself to see clearly what you were doing before the mistake occurred. Did you start typing before you finished reading? Did the hand not reposition itself after leaving its original position? Did you not check the Chinese candidates before pressing space? After finding the triggering condition, make a specific change to it in the next round.

If it is completely correct as soon as it slows down, you can gradually restore the original rhythm; if it continues to be wrong even when it is slow, it means that the focus is not on speed, and you should relearn the key positions or input rules.

After completing it correctly, change the question for verification

Practicing the difficult points separately is only an intermediate step. Then change to new words or sentences and check whether the same action is still stable. Repeatedly entering a word that you have memorized does not fully prove that you will be correct in a normal article.

Today’s practice

Complete a text, pick a repeated error, and write "what I typed into something". Practice three different examples covering the difficult point, then return to the regular text. Finally record whether this error is reduced. Try to make less of the same mistake first, and then consider improving the overall speed.
