Typing Capital Letters and Punctuation: Shift Key Practice
Put capitalization, end-of-sentence symbols and spaces into real sentences to reduce detailed errors in English article input.
Punctuation is not an accessory to the article
Only practice lowercase words, and it is easy to stop suddenly at the beginning of sentences, capital abbreviations and quotation marks in real articles. Typing.com's course also lists capitalization, punctuation and numbers as specialized training content. For actual text, being able to input common words continuously is only part of the equation.
First confirm the system layout. Symbol placement is inconsistent across layouts, especially quotes, brackets, and question marks. When unsure, check the current layout to avoid practicing the wrong key relationships over and over again.
Take apart the combined actions
First confirm the sequence of pressing Shift, inputting the target key, and releasing Shift, and then practice the comparison of aA and bB. If you always capitalize the last letter, the key point is the timing of release. For regular two-handed exercises, you can try Shift with the other hand, but those with limited movement should give priority to comfortable and reliable methods.
Then put the capitalization back to the beginning of the sentence, and put the commas and periods back into the short sentence. Don't just type a row of symbols repeatedly, because reading and connecting spaces in normal writing also require practice.
Distinguish Chinese and English punctuation
The Chinese comma “,” is different from the English comma “,”, and the brackets, quotation marks and spaces may also be different. Whichever character is required by the question, check the actual submitted character. If you encounter a situation that looks similar but reports an error, first look at the punctuation mode and full-width state of the input method.
Today’s practice
Enter three self-written English sentences, each sentence contains a capital word and a punctuation mark, and then enter three Chinese sentences for comparison. Slowly check the beginning, end of sentences and spaces. Finally, switch to an unfamiliar passage to test, and observe whether there are still long pauses at punctuation points, rather than just looking at the word speed.
