Stuck at the Same Typing Speed? How to Address a Plateau
distinguishes measurement fluctuations, over-mature questions and real shortcomings, and uses comparable training adjustments to break through the plateau period.
First confirm whether it is really stagnant.
Today is a little slower than yesterday, which does not mean it has entered a bottleneck. The numbers may naturally vary depending on the practice language, duration, materials, and input methods. First select the recent records with similar conditions, and then look at the overall trend. If only the highest record remains unchanged, the average results are more stable and are actually improving.
Use records for diagnosis rather than grading yourself every day. You can flag changes in equipment, lack of rest, or particularly difficult passages to avoid attributing all fluctuations to ability.
identifies three common plateau periods
The first type is that the content is too familiar: practicing the same group of words becomes more and more smooth, but it is difficult to change articles. The range of materials needs to be expanded. The second is bug fixing: reworking the same set of characters every time and requiring special processing. The third type is that the difficulty jumps too much: you have to challenge complex codes as soon as you learn the alphabet, and you need to retreat to an intermediate level that can be completed stably.
Training adjustments do not necessarily mean increasing the duration. You can also keep the original time and replace part of the repeated speed test with slow error correction or a complete article. This makes it easier to tell whether a change is worthwhile.
Leave a verification window for changes
After practicing a few times on a weak point, check it with new questions of the same type. Don't change methods every day or you won't be able to tell which adjustments are effective. If the speed increases but the errors increase significantly, consider this as the upper limit of the exploration speed, and cannot directly declare that stable capabilities have been formed.
Today’s practice
Write down the last three results of the same condition, find a recurring problem, and formulate a unique project goal for the next week. At the end of each time, record the execution status. Retest with new questions on weekends, and then decide to keep or modify the plan. One unsatisfactory result is not worth overturning the entire plan.
