Improve typing speed
Fast on Familiar Text, Slow on New Text? Test Your Transfer
distinguishes content memory and input ability, and uses retained questions and new materials to verify the actual effect of typing training.
There are limited answers to the familiar questions
After repeating an article, the cost of reading and finding a location will decrease. This can help practice movements, but it doesn't mean that encountering new content will be as fast. When recording the results, indicate how many times you have practiced the question to avoid directly comparing the memorized peak value with the unfamiliar text for the first time.
Prepare two materials
training materials are allowed to be practiced repeatedly in order to correct specific errors; verification materials are kept without practice to check migration. The two materials should be as close as possible in terms of language, sentence length, punctuation density, and subject matter. There is no need to compare simple word lists with complex technical documents.
See where the gap appears
If the new question is mainly slow in reading, change to a more familiar topic to check; if the slow is in punctuation, practice detailed exercises; if any new combination is difficult, continue to practice key connections. One gap cannot prove that all training is invalid, and the source of the gap needs to be explained.
Today’s practice and inspection
Find three short paragraphs, the first paragraph is used for repeated error correction, and the other two paragraphs are used for verification before and after training. Compare the overall performance of the two new questions and record the difference in difficulty. Use this little experiment to choose your next training step, and don't treat single results as a strict measure of ability.
