Where to Look While Typing: Practicing Reading Ahead
uses short word and phrase span training to reduce guessing, missing words and repeated reading while reading.
Find your reading position first
When typing, constantly looking for "where I just typed" usually affects coherence more than unfamiliarity with a certain key. First use the short text to observe: whether the gaze is on the current character, the next word, or has jumped to the next line. There is no uniform optimal distance, the key is to accurately maintain the position of the original text.
starts with a short clip
Read a word or phrase clearly before typing it, and prepare the next paragraph when you are done quickly. For example, to practice red cup near the window, you can first group and read according to red cup, near, and the window, but the actual input will still retain spaces according to the original text without adding additional separators.
Actively shorten the span when the advance is too much
If you always enter the last word in advance, or miss the article, it means that the connection between reading and action is not stable. Shorten the fragments and slow down the small words that are easy to rush over. When the word selection is long or the Chinese words are difficult to select, you can also pause and confirm without having to guess the content in order to maintain continuity.
Today’s practice and inspection
Select two new paragraphs of similar difficulty. Type the first paragraph according to natural habits, and read the second paragraph consciously in short fragments. Record the number of replays and missed words, not just the speed. If the speed drops slightly but the position becomes more stable, continue to become familiar with this method and gradually increase the reading span.
