A Seven-Day Typing Plan for Beginners

Use seven short exercises to establish positioning, fingering and error correction habits, and adjust the learning progress according to the completion status.

Seven days is an arrangement, not a quick guarantee

The following is an example of an introductory exercise designed by TigerTyping, not a study-validated compliance schedule. Everyone's experience, equipment, and available time are different, so a day can be broken up into several times, or a day can be repeated. Typing.com's introductory suggestions emphasize short-term regular practice, with priority given to accurate input in the early stages.

Leave a brief baseline before starting to record what operations can be completed so far. The goal is to establish a repeatable practice routine, not to hit a uniform speed after seven days.

The first three times: establishing a starting point

Familiar with starting, input and error correction for the first time, observing the cursor and input method. Practice positioning and a small number of reference keys for the second time to reduce the need to lower your head to find the starting point. Add a few new keys for the third time, and then return to familiar short words to see if the action is still stable.

If the first two times are still difficult, postpone the expansion and don’t rush the calendar. At the end of each session, write down a mastered action and a problem to be solved, and start from the latter next time.

twice in the middle: connected into content

The fourth time to practice short words or Chinese phrases, focusing on the connections between characters. The fifth time adds a small amount of capitalization, punctuation or candidate confirmation operations. Don't add long articles and strict timing at the same time, otherwise it will be difficult to know which change the problem comes from.

Always set aside some time to review the content of the previous day before practicing new content. Forgotten keys are worth relocating and don't need to be covered up by speeding up.

Last Two Times: Verification and Scheduling Next Steps

Select an unfamiliar passage for the sixth time, complete it completely and check for errors. Retest for the seventh time using conditions similar to the initial one to compare whether positioning, number of head bows, and error correction have improved. Even if the word speed does not change much, being able to complete more content independently is progress. Next week, just choose one of your most obvious shortcomings and continue practicing.
